New to Couponing?

An Intro To Couponing

NOTICE: If you already use & love coupons this probably won't help you! But, here it is for any beginners out there!!!

Welcome new coupon users!!! This post on couponing will be split up into sections. When you see ALL CAPS, you've hit a new section. So, if you're looking for something specific scroll through the headlines!

WHEN & WHERE TO CLIP!
A lot of the best coupons come from the Sunday paper, so that's a worthy investment even if you don't read it! The Sunday paper usually has RedPlum coupons, and SuperSaver coupons. On most freebie and coupons sites these will be abbreviated; RP, SS. So, that's what they're talking about! Sometimes, you'll get P&G coupons, these often hold many good household name coupons. The next best way to score coupons are these sites:

coupons.com
Target coupons
RedPlum (RP) coupons
**I will be adding more as I remember any good coupon sites!!  :)

Another fabulous coupon resource is AllYou Magazine, they have lots of great coupons in there!! (Make sure you get a good deal when you buy it, if you subscribe!) The last way is to "like" all your favorite brands on FB, because often times they have giveaways, and coupon give-outs! I've gotten quite a few free product coupons this way! This optional, but often times helpful.

HOW TO ORGANIZE

Coupon accordion folder:
Click here to see an example.
This is how I organize my coupons! They sell these at Wal-Mart. Just label it with things you usually buy. Mine says things like:
  • Free product coupons
  • Food/Drinks
  • Razors/Shaving cream
  • Shampoo/BW/Conditioner
It's a very easy way to find & use your coupons!

Coupon Binder:
This is the type for avid couponers!! (You'll see this a lot on Extreme Couponing!) Take these type of sheets:
coupon binder sheets and slip them into a (preferably cute) binder! Then you can organize them as you like with tabs.

THE RULES OF COUPONING
Manufacturer coupon:
A coupon made by the specific company
Store Coupon:
Aka- go to the coupon sites and see Target's coupons. They're a good example of Store Brand coupons.

You can combine one manufacturer coupon with one store coupon. Wait...what?
Scenario:
CG Blush 9.87
Redplum CG coupon: $1.00 off any CGProduct
Target.com Coupon: $1.50 off any CG Product
Combine these two coupons for $2.50 off of your blush!

B1G1 Free Sales:
If you have another B1G1 Free coupon USE IT! You'll get both items free.

COUPON POLICY

Most important rule! Read your store's coupon policy!! It will be filled with bad news: lot's of stores won't take free product coupons printed from the net, and good news: Wal-Mart will give you overage if your coupon exceeds the amount!! So READ IT, PRINT IT, SAVE IT! (Trust me, when you coupon at Wal-Mart, you're gonna need back up!)
Stores Coupon Policy's:
  1. Target
  2. Wal-Mart
  3. Sweetbay
  4. Publix
  5. Rite Aid
  6. Walgreens
I GOT FREE STUFF.....(that I can't use!) & I CLIPPED A COUPON.....(wait, I never buy that!)

Okay, so often times you'll see a GREAT deal and get a cool product for FREE! Good for you! But, you may not be able to use it! (Free baby stuff; no baby, free man stuff, you're a girl....you get the point!) So what to do?? Or, you clip a coupon, bring it to the store and THEN realize you never buy that, or it's too pricey! I recommend 2 options!

Be a Coupon Gifter!
I love this, because it's so darn helpful! One time I had an AWESOME coupon for free Fredia Hair Coloring Kit, and it retailed at around $10.00. I was so excited, but when I got there, I realized I don't want to dye my hair and there are probably tons of women buying cheaper kits that do want to dye their hair! So, I left it there! Simple and helpful! My mom does this all the time! If you clip a coupon and don't need it, leave it near the product and help a friend out!

Donate!
If you get something really cheap or free you don't need, just donate it! Trial sized objects are PERFECT for Operation Christmas Child, and you're helping someone in need!! <3 Get creative! (I'd love to hear your ideas!)
